La Visite National Park was founded in 1983, by the government decree and it is situated twenty-two kilometers south of Port-au-Prince. This is the most popular national park of Haiti, which covers 30 square kilometers on the ridge of the Massif de la Selle near its western terminus. This park provides fresh, calm and cool environment for visitors. It provides an excellent opportunity for bird watching and nature enthusiasts.

The forest vegetation of this park is dominated by the pine forest (Pinus occidentalis), which is the natural forest of Haiti. La Visite National Park conservers Caribbean Islands fauna and flora. The forest is scattered with fragments of drier karst broadleaf, which are implanted within the pine stands. The growth of cloud forest or wet broadleaf montane are confined to ravines. Numerous beautiful and rare species of birds including some endemic to the Caribbean Island is the greatest attraction of this park.

La Visite National Park is the most sought after attraction of Haiti, where one could see tourists engrossed in bird watching and sipping Haitian cocktail rum. It is the best place for sightseeing, bird watching and various activities that are offered by this park. One could spend their whole day with their family and friends, enjoying picnic talking to the nature. This park is worth visiting and must be included in itinerary, if one is planning vacation for Caribbean Islands.
