Chaine de la Selle peak – The Highest Point in Haiti

Pic la Selle is the highest peak on this mountain range and in Haiti, which rises up to 8,793 feet (2,680 meters) above the sea level. This peak is a part of Haiti’s most famous National Park called as La Visite Park. Chaine de la Selle is an excellent trekking spot to explore the unseen beauty of the nature. It is a perfect place for mountaineers, backpackers and nature lovers.

Climbing Chaine de la Selle is a challenging and a violent hike. It offers piece and discovery to the unseen nature. The complete journey to reach there is an exciting adventure as it is located in the remote place in Haiti. How to reach Chaine de la Selle:
Reaching Chaine de la Selle and the nearby nameless mountains has a range of different routes. One of the most common routes is through Jacmel, the city that is located on the southern coast of Haiti. Along the main road towards the eastern end of Jacmel, after passing Marigot, one could follow the road that passes through the river, which will lead towards Chaine de la Selle. Along the way ask for Chaudry village, then the village of Mare Blanch and then finally Mare Rouge, which is the closest village to Chaine de la Selle Mountain. One could hire a motor-bike or a 4x4 Truck along with the driver to reach there.

Advancing further towards the west of Mare Rouge, which is at an altitude of 7,000 feet, the way leads to mountain range, through the pine forest and nearby local homes. It takes approximately four hours to reaching summit (8525 feet), which a cement post that is marked by a yellow painted stripe. Reaching various nearby peaks is an amazing adventure to experience the Caribbean Island and its Mountains.
